I don't even know what to write. Mom hasn't come out of the coma, and the outlook is, in the words of the doctors, "grim." The medical consensus is that she will be in a persistant vegetative state. Yesterday we as a family decided to respect her wishes as stated in her living will, and withdrew life support. She's breathing laboriously on her own, but there's no hope she will get better.
No one should have to go through this, her or us.

I'm very sorry to hear about this latest development. Please know that you and your family are still in my thoughts.
I'm so sorry to hear that, Sue. My thoughts are with you and your family.
I'm really sorry that things are not going well with your mom. I have been thinking of you and your family every day.
I'm so sorry. I'll keep you and your family in my thoughts.
This is such a miserable thing to go through. I'm so sorry for you and your family. I recently lost my brother unexpectedly so I know that such things in life are almost unbearable.
I'm very sorry to hear about your Mom's condition.
