I'm back! The monumental camping trip is over (it was amazing), we're in our new home of La Grande, Oregon, Shaun has started his new job, we have no furniture yet, and I have a PILE of blog posts to put up over the next many days.
I took a ton of pictures on the road, and wrote posts as we went along so I wouldn't forget anything. However, we don't have internet hookup at the house yet (We're getting internet at the house! Woo hoo! Haven't had that for years! Getting DSL, even!) and the free local wifi reception at our house is spotty at best, so posting may still not be rapid until the DSL modem comes. Also, I have to do some picture organizing.
Yesterday was my 2-year blogiversary (HOW can it be two years already???), and I completely missed it. All day I had the nagging feeling that I was missing something, that Sept. 18 was a day I was supposed to do something or keep an appointment. After remembering, and because the wifi was working, I indulged in a veritable orgy of blog-reading tonight. I had 431 new posts on my Bloglines! Four hundred! And thirty-one! You all have been busy over the past three weeks. I didn't do a lot of commenting (seriously- 431!) but I enjoyed catching up on what everyone's been doing, and seeing pictures and everything.
I've really enjoyed this whole blogging thing. I've even kept it up on a fairly regular basis, which is not something I've been able to do in other journalling attempts. I like getting comments (of course) which probably helps keep me going, but I also like posting pictures, which I'd never done in a journal before, to help tell the the story of my fibery adventures. And it makes me feel like part of a community to see what everyone else is working on and share my own projects. (Which, by the way, were not worked on at all during the trip. I schlepped the urchin shawl fom one end of the country to another, and managed to knit one round. One.)
Anyway, it's good to be back. I'll be getting the trip posts up when I can, so stay tuned!
(P.S. I was in a carnival! I'd never even heard of a carnival before reading about I and the Bird over at Sand Creek Almanac, but it was fun to be linked in the company of the rest of the bird-writing participants. There's some great stories and great blogs there, go check it out!)
(p.S.#2. Emma had her 3rd birthday while we were on the road. My baby is three. How did that happen?)
