OK, so I think I get the whole mp3-player craze, now. I've been listening to Weavecast podcasts, and they're great! Plus, most are about an hour long, so one will take me through an entire workout should I choose to listen at the gym.

An aside, though- is the mp3-player craze really a craze any more, or is it just the way things are, like having a cell phone? Part of almost everyone's standard gear... I do have a cell phone, but I have never sent a text message. I don't even know how.

I'm so behind the times.

I use M's cell (we get few calls), don't know how to text message (none of my friends do, either) and still have to use a cheat sheet to retrieve messages. If I know who the person is, I usually call them back instead of figuring out the message.

I don't have a m3-player, I don't have my computer speakers hooked up, I don't download podcasts.

I was one of the first in my previous (small) town who had a PC. From such heights have the mighty fallen, eh?

I just got a cell phone (after being cell phoneless for four months). Being without a cell phone, once you've gotten used to them (but never really love them) is easy. It's a little inconvenient, but not a problem.

Since I hit the gym for at least an hour a day, hate the music there and I'm not big on watching TV, I would *DIE* without my MP3 player for entertainment (book on tape, radio, music, whatever). Same with work. MP3: Crucial Cell phone: eh, convenient. That's my opinion.

I'm even further behind than you. No MP3, and definitely not a cell phone. I was making train reservations today, and she kept insisting on a cell phone number. And couldn't believe me when I said I didn't have one. I ended up giving her my parents phone number just to complete the sale! Craziness, I tell ya. ;)

For some, it's the way things are; for others, it's not even something they want. Truthfully, I wouldn't fret about having or not having the current gadgets; every technology purchase I make is after I've decided that I will use it. The fact that it's popular doesn't necessarily mean a thing. It took me several years to get the ipod or the digital camera; now that I have them, I love them and use them LOTS. On the other hand, even though my current cell phone has the capability to get my email, I'm not in the least interested in using that capability. And I refuse to pay for texting, 'cause I don't like it. (And when you come right down to it, I really don't like communicating by phone, whether it be cell or not, yet that technology has been around over a hundred years!)
